Music
After 15 years of touring across continents with different bands and projects, Belgian composer and multi-instrumentalist Ward Dhoore has launched his own solo project. A deeply personal step, and a deliberate one. The music is post-classical, genre-bending, cinematic: it blends melancholy, minimalist composition and atmospheric soundscapes into something that defies easy categorisation. Crossover that feels inevitable rather than calculated.
His debut album 'It Was All Heart' (2025) tells Ward's stories through texture, melody and emotion, without a single word. He wrote every note alone in his studio, only bringing in other musicians at the recording stage. The album features Louis Favre (drums & percussion), Seraphine Stragier (cello), Daniel Herskedal (tuba & bass trumpet), Oscar Beerten (violin & Hardanger fiddle) and Esther Coorevits (viola).
Live, he performs with Seraphine Stragier, Esther Coorevits, Jan D'Haene and Louis Favre, blending acoustic warmth with electronic textures, making each show feel intimate yet expansive. The release tour wrapped with full houses, a warm reception, and recognition including nominations, awards and coverage on national television.
For his second album, the process shifted: Ward wrote the music from the very start with his band in mind (with Stanzi Cresens replacing Seraphine on cello). That record is now finished, with an album and concerts planned for 2027.
